Borno Schools Close 2 Days for Critical Measles and Polio Vaccination

The Borno State Ministry of Education, Science, Technology & Innovation (MOESTI) has mandated the closure of all public and private primary and secondary schools for two days to facilitate a massive immunisation drive.

The order was issued on October 21, 2025, in a notice signed by the Honourable Commissioner’s office.

The general closure will be observed from Thursday, October 23, to Friday, October 24, 2025. Schools are directed to resume activities on Monday, October 27, 2025.

The closure is being implemented to accommodate the 2025 National Immunisation Plus Days (NIPDs), which are organised by the Borno State Ministry of Health and Human Services.

Measles-Rubella: Children aged 9 months to 14 years.

Polio: Children aged 0 to 59 months.

All concerned proprietors, principals, and local government education secretaries are directed to strictly comply with the two-day school closure directive.
