The new commission will develop ICT and digital economy policies, promote digital literacy, support startups and innovation hubs, enhance e-governance, attract investment, and strengthen cybersecurity across government platforms.
Commissioner for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr Abdullahi Bappah Ahmed, hailed the development as a transformative milestone, noting that it will bridge traditional governance with modern digital solutions.
โThis is not just about technologyโitโs about unlocking the full potential of our people and economy through smart, inclusive innovation,โ Dr Ahmed said.
The move follows recent partnerships between the Gombe State Government and organisations such as the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and Uniccon Group to expand digital infrastructure and capacity in the state.
With the new law, Gombe joins forward-thinking states harnessing the digital economy to drive growth, create jobs, and promote sustainable development.
