Following reports of civilian casualties during recent Nigerian Air Force (NAF) airstrikes in Zamfara State, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has dispatched a fact-finding team to investigate the incident.ย

Air Vice Marshal Olusola F. Akinboyewa, Director of Public Relations and Information Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force, revealed this in a statement on Monday, January 13, 2025.

According to the statement, the team, led by Air Vice Marshal Edward K Gabkwet, Director of Coordination and Cooperation (DCC) in the Civil-Military Relations Branch of NAF Headquarters, will conduct a thorough investigation.

They will be liaising with state and local government officials and other key stakeholders to assess the situation comprehensively.ย

“The CAS wishes to reiterate the NAF’s commitment to the highest level of professionalism and transparency in the conduct of operations, in line with appropriate global standards,” stated Air Vice Marshal Akinboyewa.
